https://ijesos.com/index.php/pub/article/view/74

This study presents a literature review of theoretical approaches concerning sustainable green economic growth. In recent years, the global economy has faced a series of profound challenges, including the 2008 financial crisis, the Russia–Ukraine war, the COVID-19 pandemic, geopolitical tensions in the Asia-Pacific region, and ongoing instability in the Middle East. In response, the concept of the Green Economy has emerged as a nature-centered and competitively structured paradigm, offering seemingly promising solutions for economic development.Among the three prevailing perspectives on Green Economy, the first—optimistic green growth—advocates that technological advancement and economic development are key instruments for resolving environmental issues. This view is often framed within the Environmental Kuznets Curve hypothesis. In contrast, the growth-agnostic perspective critiques this optimism by arguing that neither economic growth nor environmental sustainability alone is sufficient; rather, the continuation of social welfare should be the central objective. Each of these perspectives exhibits internal coherence while also presenting areas that require further empirical validation. From a theoretical standpoint, designing and implementing green development strategies that prioritize social welfare remains a complex endeavor. However, the example of Scandinavian countries, which have made notable progress in this domain, demonstrates that such an approach is not unattainable. The third perspective, degrowth, represents a school of thought that explicitly endorses economic contraction as a pathway toward sustainability.
Mehtap İşler

https://ijesos.com/index.php/pub/article/view/73

In recent years, with the rise of immigration in Türkiye, as well as worldwide, multiculturalism has become more visible in educational institutions, leading to the development of multicultural structures in schools. This has led to numerous challenges, including cultural adaptation, effective communication, and maintaining discipline. Teachers play a crucial role in managing the cultural differences observed in schools. Therefore, it is important for teachers to be open to intercultural learning and to incorporate practices related to different cultures into their classroom activities. This study aimed to adapt the Culturally Responsive Practices Scale into Turkish. The population of the study consists of teachers working at kindergarten, primary, and secondary education levels in four provinces in Eastern and South-Eastern Anatolia in the 2024-2025 academic year. The research sample consisted of 320 teachers working in Malatya, Gaziantep, Adıyaman, and Muş provinces, who were determined by the convenience sampling method. The data were analyzed in SPSS and AMOS 21 statistical programs. Confirmatory Factor Analysis was conducted to reveal the validity of the scale. Cronbach’s Alpha Internal Consistency Coefficient and McDonald's Omega Coefficient were found to be .87. As a result of the analyses, there was evidence that the 13-item scale was valid and reliable.
Bahar YüceServet Atik

https://ijesos.com/index.php/pub/article/view/59

Shutter Island is a 2010 psychological thriller directed by Martin Scorsese. The film begins in 1954 when American police officer Teddy Daniels and his friend Chuck Aule come to the island of Shutter Island, near Massachusetts, to investigate Rachel Solando, a prisoner who has escaped from the mental hospital on the island. Teddy's traumas and hallucinations from his own past are forcing him. Especially the memories of the war, in which he witnessed the sufferings of the Nazis in the death camps, and the death of his wife Dolores, deeply affect his psychology. Teddy is actually a patient named Andrew Laeddis and is a prisoner being treated on Shutter Island. His wife Dolores kills their child due to mental problems and Andrew loses touch with reality, unable to withstand this trauma. The delusion that he is an investigative detective is a therapy method invented by doctors. In the final scene, he accepts Teddy's past, but still continues to live in delusions. This study examines the Martin Scorsese-directed film Dungeon Island (Shutter Island, 2010) with a qualitative case study method within the framework of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Acceptance and Determination Therapy (ACT). The research aims to analyze how the traumatic experiences and psychological processes experienced by Teddy Daniels, the main character in the film, are similar to the basic principles of the ACT. Psychological flexibility, which is one of the main goals of ACT, explains the ability to explain mental experiences without criticism, to be in touch with the present moment, and to become clear in displaying attitudes in line with values. Psychological inflexibility is in front of psychological flexibility. PTSD is a problem that occurs after a deep mental concussion , indicating a constant repetition of a traumatic experience, avoiding trigger signs that are similar to the event, with special symptoms such as high impact. It is aimed to evaluate the scenes that are assumed to be equivalent to these. In conclusion, the traumas and delusions experienced by the protagonist Teddy in the film Shutter Island reveal a significant relationship between the symptoms of PTSD and the basic principles of PTSD. It is anticipated that the psychological processes depicted in the film can be evaluated from a therapeutic perspective and may contribute to understanding an individual's coping mechanisms with traumatic experiences. It is also predicted that conducting empirical research supported by viewer experiences or therapist insights could increase the validity and applicability of film-based therapy approaches.
Şerife KıratlıMeryem Karaaziz

https://ijesos.com/index.php/pub/article/view/71

The movie explores the complex emotional relationship between Joel and Clementine. Joel lives a regular and predictable life, but meeting Clementine marks the beginning of a deep emotional journey. Their relationship is initially exciting and loving, but over time, it begins to unravel. Clementine decides to erase her memories with Joel due to disappointment and unhappiness. Joel, upon learning this, also chooses to erase his own memories, thinking he cannot cope with the pain. However, during the process, he begins to recall sweet and painful memories and realizes he still loves Clementine. This emotional awakening aligns closely with the Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) approach, which highlights emotional experiences. The film’s events and character dialogues can be related to core EFT concepts such as emotional awareness, regulation, and transformation. The movie offers insight into the central role of emotions in relationships. In this study, document analysis, a qualitative method, was used. The film was analyzed based on EFT theory. Emotional transformations and therapeutic concepts emerging in the film help illustrate how EFT functions in a therapeutic context. EFT concepts such as emotional awareness, expression, and the therapist’s role are significant in the film. Clementine’s desire to erase memories represents emotional avoidance, while Joel’s choice to hold onto them shows emotional growth. The characters’ emotional journeys demonstrate how healing can occur through confronting rather than avoiding emotions. The primary aim of EFT is to help individuals understand and manage their emotional processes. The dynamic between Joel and Clementine—marked by breaks and reconnections—emphasizes how unresolved emotional issues affect couples, but also how processing these emotions can restore relationships. The film illustrates how emotional regulation and empathetic communication strengthen bonds. In conclusion, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind presents rich examples of EFT principles. The characters’ emotional experiences reflect EFT concepts such as awareness, expression, regulation, and transformation. This analysis suggests that the film can serve as a helpful tool in psychotherapy, especially in understanding emotional healing in couples therapy.
Duygu FikirMeryem Karaaziz

https://ijesos.com/index.php/pub/article/view/75

Currently, climate change has reached a scale where it significantly impacts the dynamics of international trade. Notably, natural disasters exacerbated by climate change threaten logistical infrastructure, causing damage to ports, roads, and transportation networks. This phenomenon leads to disruptions in supply chains and subsequent cost escalations. Concurrently, environmental regulations—such as carbon taxes, green trade agreements, and sustainable production standards—are fundamentally reshaping the foreign trade policies of nations. While risks are increasing for certain sectors, it is evident that new market opportunities are emerging for eco-friendly technologies and green products. For example, melting glaciers in the North Pole bring about shorter transfer route options. This article examines the effects of climate change on foreign trade by addressing its economic, logistical, and political dimensions within the relevant literature, offering strategic recommendations for developing countries like Türkiye. The objective is to contribute to how sustainable trade can be operationalized while mitigating the threats posed by climate change, and to provide an original perspective to the literature in this field from Türkiye's standpoint.
Mehmet Çavdar

https://ijesos.com/index.php/pub/article/view/70

The purpose of this article is to present in detail the psychotherapy process conducted with a client diagnosed with panic disorder, in order to demonstrate the effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and contribute to clinical practice. In this context, the study was carried out using the case report method, and the eight-week individual psychotherapy process conducted with a 39-year-old female client was addressed. During the intervention process, techniques from both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) were applied. The client’s panic attack cycle, automatic thought patterns, tendency toward emotional suppression, and relational problems were addressed through therapeutic interventions. Based on the findings, a decrease in the frequency and severity of the client’s panic attacks, an increase in her ability to recognize and express emotions, the development of insight, and a strengthening of self-perception were observed. By the end of the eighth session, it was evaluated that the client had largely achieved her therapeutic goals and that the psychotherapy process had been completed effectively. The results indicate that a structured and integrative psychotherapy approach may be functional in managing the symptoms of panic disorder. In this regard, it is considered that further case reports and case-based research on panic disorder are needed.
Eda DirekMeryem Karaaziz

https://ijesos.com/index.php/pub/article/view/79

This qualitative case study investigates how gifted students construct and regulate their emotional experiences through two languages, focusing on the ways in which emotional intensity shapes bilingual emotional expression. The study aims to explore how students in a Science and Art Center (BİLSEM) articulate socio-emotional themes in their first language (L1-Turkish) and their foreign language (L2-English), and whether L2 functions as an “emotional refuge.” In this context, the study also examines the extent to which Dewaele’s “Emotional Detachment Hypothesis” applies to gifted learners and discusses whether the use of L2 contributes to emotional balance. The participants consisted of eight gifted students aged 10 to 12, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through emotion-themed written texts produced in both languages, semi-structured individual interviews, and systematic observation notes. The dataset was analyzed using Braun and Clarke’s thematic analysis framework. Findings reveal a clear functional differentiation between the two languages in emotional expression. Turkish emerges as an internally anchored, emotionally intense, and spontaneous mode of articulation, whereas English provides a more distanced, softened, and cognitively regulated channel. Participants reported that using English allowed them to avoid social judgment, maintain emotional privacy, and express difficult experiences through a more controlled and rational linguistic frame. One student captured this contrast through the metaphor “Turkish is a storm; English is a map,” illustrating how L1 amplifies emotional resonance while L2 restructures it within a calmer and more organized cognitive space. Overall, the study demonstrates that for gifted students, a foreign language is not merely an academic skill but also a strategic “emotional balancing tool”—a means of managing Dabrowskian emotional overexcitability and achieving the kind of self-regulation described by Vygotsky. These findings suggest that language education in BİLSEMs should be enriched with psycholinguistic-pedagogical approaches that actively support students’ emotional well-being.
Mehmet KaraşahinOrhan Yücel

https://ijesos.com/index.php/pub/article/view/61

The film tells the story of Philippe, a wealthy and successful businessman. Philippe becomes paralyzed after a paragliding accident and is no longer able to take care of himself. He is looking for a caregiver. Driss, who has just been released from prison, applies for the caregiver position not out of interest, but because he needs to fulfill a formality. Over time, a friendship begins to develop between the two characters. Thanks to Driss, Philippe gains a new perspective on life and, at the same time, begins to connect with life again.Mindfulness Therapy (Conscious Awareness) is a therapeutic approach that involves perceiving experiences as they are, without judgment or emotional evaluation. In short, Mindfulness Therapy emphasizes helping individuals stay in the moment, accept their experiences, and fully focus their minds and bodies on the present. It aims to help individuals change their mental attitudes and approach events with more conscious awareness. In individual practice, Mindfulness encourages individuals to shift their mental stance and view situations with greater openness and acceptance. This study examines the 2011 film The Intouchables (Can Dostum in Turkish) through the lens of the Mindfulness Therapy approach. The film is analyzed using the document analysis method. As a result, it is concluded that the film, when examined through the concepts of Mindfulness such as being in the moment, acceptance, and non-judgment, can offer valuable insights to the field of psychology from the perspective of Mindfulness Therapy.
Yeşil ÇolakMeryem Karaaziz
