In this study, the work titled "Ege ve Eski Yunan Tarihi" (The History of the Aegean and Ancient Greece), designed by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Kaya in two volumes, has been examined within the field of historical studies. The first volume of the researched work, which we have scrutinized, narrates the time span from prehistoric ages to the Classical Age, shedding light on the political, social, and cultural events of that period. "Ege ve Eski Yunan Tarihi" represents an expression of a civilization that sprouted, developed, and concluded in the Aegean region. Although the genesis of ancient civilization initiated in the Aegean, Greece, and even the entire Mediterranean, played a significant role in the development of this civilization. Thus, the Mediterranean world became a component of this historical narrative. This period, spanning from prehistory to the Classical Age, is a cornerstone of Western civilization. However, it is crucial to note that the term "Ege ve Eski Yunan Tarihi" does not solely pertain to the history of the ancestors of contemporary Greeks; rather, it signifies the development of Aegean civilization with the contributions of diverse ethnic and culturally rooted communities. From this perspective, understanding this time period is highly significant for making sense of subsequent eras.
